Gregory Sackville-Bagg

Gregory is his mother Freda Sackville-Bagg's favourite child, and he is aware of it. He seems to have inherited the good reasoning from her. In the German version of the book by "The Little Vampire" to the movie from 2000, a statement is made about Gregory's age, but not in the English version. Gregory is between 14 and 15 years old (The German Book, page 81-82, says: He might be fourteen or fifteen years old). Although in the book his birthday is given as 18 June 1806, he is much older. Anyway, the year is uncertain, referring to Rudolph Sackville-Bagg's statement that he bathed for the last time in 1428 (in the German edition). Therefore, it can be assumed that they were still human beings in 1428. Thus, his year of birth must be 1413 (if he was 15 years old) or 1414 (if he was 14 years old). With this birth year, it also seems logical that Gregory and his family had already been at the cliffs by the 1700s. His zodiac sign is Gemini.

Like his siblings Anna and Rudolph, he can turn into a bat too, as the scene with the four bats in the cemetery has shown.

Gregory became a vampire just as he was entering puberty and is therefore cursed with eternal puberty. This makes him very temperamental and moody. Unlike his younger siblings he doesn't like reading, he prefers "action". Even though he is difficult at times, he is loyal to his siblings and, at the end of the film, proves loyalty to his clan by calling the Clan using the Amulet Of Lost Souls.

He is aware of his aura and knows to use it against people and to frighten them. But he can also be calm and make himself well imperceptible. So he stayed in the background and hid from Tony when Tony talked to his family in the crypt. Tony felt quite safe from Gregory, but he didn't know that Gregory was watching him.

Gregory likes to change his hair colour and hairstyle. At the very beginning of the film, about 300 years earlier, he has a mullet and completely black hair. The shorter hair on top of his head is combed uniformly upwards. Meanwhile, his hairstyle is much more elaborate. His hairstyle is also the mullet, but with several slightly reddish and blond highlights that are loosened up on top of his head and stick up like spikes. At the back of his head, you can see that he must have once dyed his hair red, because the colouring is already growing out, so that only at the level of his neck to the hair-ends can the red shimmer be seen, with a white strand on each side. As you can easily see, his hair is dyed, because he is actually blond (referring to the German book "Anna von Schottersteins Nächtebuch", in which Anna writes about her brother Gregory that he has great blond hair that he likes to style).

Gregory is a light sleeper. Simply entering the crypt by the cemetery caretaker caused him to wake up from his deep sleep. But he is also an early riser. This is evidenced by the scene in Tony's basement. Gregory is already awake when Anna wakes up and knocks on Rudolph's converted coffin to wake him. For when he asks where his siblings are going, he doesn't even sound tired, but is wide awake.

The vegan vampire life (only cows blood) is not his style because he prefers human blood.

In his pocket, he has a white anti-stress ball, with which he played for example in the crypt when his father Frederick spoke to his family and Tony.

His relationship with his siblings is quite harmonious:

  • During their first encounter with Tony, when Rudolph shouts to his big brother that Tony is his friend and pushes Gregory away from Tony, Gregory immediately deviates from his planned attack on Tony. Even though Gregory is initially wary of Tony, he no longer attacks Tony and accepts his appearance in the crypt. This shows that Gregory respects Rudolph's friends and will not harm them.
  • When Gregory had bitten the graveyard keeper, he is pulled up to the hole. Rudolph hangs onto Gregory's legs, hoping that Gregory will let go of his victim. In doing so, Rudolph risks being caught by Rookery as well, but he does not let go until Gregory decides to let go of the graveyard keeper. Thus Rudolph is attached to his big brother. But the feeling is the same the other way round. Although Rudolph pokes him rather roughly in the chest in the crypt because Gregory had previously bitten the graveyard keeper, Gregory merely gives him a nasty look and wants to counter him verbally, but is distracted by his father, who calls him on the bite. He could have chased after Rudolph later and retaliated for the punch, but does not.
  • When Gregory gathers the clan, Anna is the first to reach the cliff. Although their last separation was not long ago, he is delighted to see her and smiles happily at her and she smiles back. She is also the one who gets to lead him on a leash in the straitjacket.

Moreover, his relationship with his mother is much better than with his father. So he allows her to wipe his mouth and put a muzzle and straitjacket on him. Although he clearly shows with a shake of his head that he does not approve of the whole thing, he does not become offensive towards his mother. Rather, he bears it quietly.
